Aidan Coleman can’t wait to ride Mon Mome in the John Smith’s Grand National at Aintree.

Last year’s winner warmed-up for the 2010 renewal next month by finishing third behind Imperial Commander in the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup.
“He ran a blinder in the Gold Cup, staying on well up the hill to snatch third place from Carruther,” Coleman said in his Racing UK blog.
“It was the perfect prep for Mon Mome and he’ll go to Aintree as one of the favourites in the form of his life in his bid to complete the double. I rode him in the National two years ago when he finished tenth. He’s got 7lb more to carry this time around, but his preparation has gone better than it did last year.
“Aintree is a very special place and the buzz on Grand National day is fantastic. The National is a race every jump jockey wants to win, but the chance comes to some and not to others, and the list of top riders who ended their careers without winning it shows just what a lottery often is.”
